we die to each other daily

just saw this quote on satsi's blog, and it resonates all deep n shit right now. i'm in the midst of a bit of a conversation with myself about closeness, love, and intimacy. these words are all manner of aching terror and crystalline beauty.

We die to each other daily.
What we know of other people
Is only our memory of the moments
During which we knew them. And they have changed since then.
To pretend that they and we are the same
Is a useful and convenient social convention
Which must sometimes broken. We must also remember
That at every meeting we are meeting a stranger.

Comments:
Well... my take on this is that it's a depressing way to look at something that is actually very wonderful.

To realize that everyone and everything is in a constant state of change is living in the NOW; being very aware, awake, etc. Being attached to who your friend was yesterday is living in the past. Blah... who needs that.

Can you tell I just returned from India ;-)
